ASUS MeMO Pad 7 and 8 Review

ASUS Memo Pad HD 7 is a low-end Android tablet produced and marketed by a Taiwanese company. It was made available for sale in July 2013. It became a sleeper hit instantly upon its release. The device didn’t feature high speed like the Nexus 7, or the interface of the Galaxy Tab 3, however, it was very well balanced.

Asus Memo Pad 7 Review

ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7 cost $200 and worked quite smoothly. MeMo Pad 7 and 8 are really great devices. They offer fresh interface and fast processing. There are some aspects that can be improved, however, the design and the price as well as the performance, are reasonable enough.

MeMo Pad 7 and 8 are very easy to hold. They feature round edges and side buttons. The ports for the headphone and the micro USB are located at the top. Power button and volume controls are situated to the right. There is a micro SDXC storage slot featured to the left. On the front, one will find the 0.3 megapixel camera as well as the manufacturer’s logo (the MeMo Pad 8 features a 2 megapixel camera). The back features a rear camera and the stereo speakers. MeMO Pad 7 and 8 are light in weight as compared to their previous versions.

There are some inherent flaws in the MeMO Pads. The buttons are designed in such a way that there are very minimal chances of pressing them unintentionally. On the flip side, these buttons are very comparatively harder to activate on purpose. The camera is located in a corner which blocks the lens sometimes. There is no HDMI output available in both the models.

The display is reasonable enough but not as sharp as their contemporary counterparts in the market. It features rich colors and sufficient brightness. The screen is visible indoors.

There is a notable difference in the sound quality of the MeMO Pad 7 and 8. While the speakers of MeMO 7 produce good enough sound, they lack bass. The sound produced by MeMO 8 is much louder and fuller. There is almost no stereo separation in either the MeMO 7 or 8.

The MeMO Pads run the ZenUI interface. The manufacturers have wisely decided to leave Android's best features alone. Though there are some minor additions, however. Most of the Android elements are intact.

The camera is a feature that almost lets the whole device down. The cameras in both MeMO 7 and 8 produce noisy shots deprived of sufficient light. The highlights are blown out and details are absent. The cameras tend to take good pictures in dimly lit environments.

1. Fast processing
2. simple and easy interface
3. Can be held comfortably

4. Cameras are un satisfactory
5. Lousy speakers

The MeMO Pad 8 is clearly the better of the two. The battery life is longer, the display larger and the camera better. If you do not usually take pictures with your tablet then the MeMO Pad 8 is a great bargain. Both the MeMO Pads feature almost all the functions of a mobile tablet.
